When Rebellion started, we were only a couple of dreamers and a "simple" virtual card. Now as the leading Spanish neobank amongst Gen Zs and millennials, we’re excited to announce that we’ve selected Mambu’s cloud banking solution to expand both our geographic and product scope.
This is a strategic and forward-thinking move that sends a clear message about our ambitions in the European fintech space.
In 2017, the brains behind Rebellion wanted to change the banking experience. We committed to one ambitious goal: simplify and create a delightful banking experience making it accessible to the younger generations. We hit the Spanish market just over a year and a half ago to provide digital financial solutions for the younger generations, namely Gen Zs. But very quickly, we’ve grown beyond the 150k user mark, and have naturally expanded our target market to include an ever-growing portion of millennials, attracted by the immediate, simple and fresh light banking solution we offer.
Similar to the global wave of products and services taking other industries by storm, we pride ourselves on giving power to the users and freeing them from any commitments and obligations, therefore steering away from the old legacy ways of the industry. Our CEO, Sergio Cerro says it well: “Product stickiness should always come from the product itself, from the value created for users, not from contractual conditions and small print.”
With a rock-solid track record of hitting our target milestones, we’re excited to be a pioneer amongst our Spanish peers. We’ve had many firsts - first to obtain an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) licence, to offer Apple Pay and Google Pay, and to provide account holders with personal local IBANs, something particularly relevant in the Spanish market as it allows for direct credits and debits.
Now, partnering with Mambu, we’re determined to continue our success throughout Spain and beyond. Mambu’s cloud banking platform will provide the scalability and flexibility that will allow us to expand beyond the home market and accelerate product innovation to keep up with the dynamic needs of our increasingly demanding users.
