In this episode Meaghan sits down with three leading women pushing for greater inclusion of girls and women in STEM in financial services and aerospace. Discussing two incredible programs in the aerospace industry, we hear from Kyzzhibek Batyrkanova, Director of the Kyrgyz Space Program, Public Fund Kloop Media, and Zainab Saleem, Doctoral Student, Aerospace Engineer and Founder of She for Tech, about their respective stories in the aerospace industry and how they are helping girls get into STEM in Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan. Joining the ladies to provide the fintech perspective is Sofia Nunes, Co-Founder and Head of Culture at Mambu.
Kyzzhibek Batyrkanova is Program Director at the Kyrgyz Space Program (KSP), which aims to assemble the first satellite of its country that will be launched into space. She is the Founder of the TechCamp 2019 project, implemented by the KSP in partnership with UN Women in Kyrgyzstan, and a TechWomen 2019 alumna, hosted by Mozilla HQ in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Zainab Saleem is an engineer with expertise in the area of aerospace and robotics. She studied Mechatronics Engineering in Pakistan and continued further studies in Astronautics and Space Robotics in Europe. She has worked both in the aerospace industry and academia. She is currently a doctoral student at Aalto University working on Distributed Space Systems. She is an advocate for closing the gender gap in engineering and actively participates in aerospace and robotics camps and workshops for middle and high school girls as part of her STEM outreach.
Sofia is one of Mambu’s three co-founders and has successfully led and executed improvement initiatives in all areas of people engagement and culture. As Head of Culture, Sofia is responsible for making sure Mambuvians have an environment where they can flourish, ensuring the company's and individual growth.
